5th China-Germany defense strategic consultation held

The 5th round of strategic consultation on defense between the Chinese and German militaries was held in Munich, Germany, on September 27. The consultation was co-chaired by Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), and Weller, deputy inspector-general of the Federal Defense forces of Germany.

In a sincere, friendly and pragmatic atmosphere, the two sides exchanged views and reached broad consensus on such issues of common concern as exchange and cooperation between the two militaries, and international and regional security situations. Both sides agreed that the relationship between the two militaries is an important component of the relations between the two countries, and under the current complex and volatile international situation, maintaining and further developing pragmatic exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries contributes not only to the building of their respective militaries, but also to the joint maintenance of international and regional peace and stability.

The strategic consultation on defense between the two militaries of China and Germany constitutes significant mechanism for high-level strategic dialogues of the two militaries, and plays an important role in increasing mutual understanding, enhancing strategic mutual trust and promoting pragmatic cooperation.
