Sagem (Safran group) has won a BAE Systems contract, against an international field of competitors, to provide Sigma 30 pointing and navigation units for 48 new FH77 L52 Archer* artillery systems to be deployed by the Norwegian and Swedish armies. Service entry is slated for late 2011 with the Nordic Battalion. Based on digital laser digital gyro technology, Sagem’s Sigma 30 is the basis of a very-high-performance land navigation and artillery pointing system, designed to operate even under the most demanding conditions.
