The Military Economic Academy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) recently recruited 41 military trainees from 26 foreign countries, a source with the academy said Tuesday, adding it had helped train 119 foreign logistic officers previously.
The academy, which was set up in 1947 and is now under the PLA General Logistic Department, has trained a total 180,000 logistic personnel for the Chinese Army.
In 2007, the academy, which is located in China's central city of Wuhan, began recruiting foreign trainees as part of the PLA's diplomatic work.
Among those who have been trained at the academy, 10 have received promotions, five have taken important positions in their armies, and three have been assigned to peace-keeping missions of the United Nations, according to the source.
