The UK Ministry of Defence is looking to buy more Paveway IV precision-guided bombs, due to the Royal Air Force's extensive use of the type during operations in Afghanistan and Libya.

Integrated with the RAF's Panavia Tornado GR4s, the 226kg (500lb) Paveway IV provides an all-weather capability for use against ground targets.

"We have received a request for proposals from the MoD for Paveway IV replenishment, which we are responding to," said David Croft, business area manger, weapons, for UK-based Raytheon Systems.

Speaking at the Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEi) exhibition in London on 14 September, Croft deferred questions about the quantity of weapons or the delivery schedule requested.

The UK's Paveway IV design was also previously used with the nation's now-retired BAE Systems Harrier GR7/9s.
