The Netherlands Defence organisation and BAE Systems, the manufacturer of the CV90, have agreed to work together more closely on the maintenance procedure for the infantry combat vehicle. Among the things that should improve is the availability of spare parts.

This week, BAE Systems Vehicle Support Services and the Netherlands Defence organisation signed a letter of intent on the matter in Leusden, the Netherlands. The two parties will exchange information in order to improve the levels of expertise of those involved; subsequently, they will be able to take the appropriate actions in maintenance procedures. As a customer, the Defence organisation gains user experience and will now combine the knowledge gathered with the experience and expertise of the manufacturer, BAE Systems.

This knowledge exchange is intended to ensure that the Netherlands Defence organisation holds on to its position as the main centre of expertise for land systems, and, in addition to improved availability of spare parts, ensure optimal deployability of the combat vehicle.

TRUST

The letter of intent is the written basis for improved cooperation, improved performance, the retention of essential knowledge and, last but not least, growing mutual trust. The goal is to realise the objectives set out in the document by the end of 2014. The improved relationship of trust should provide a basis for a long-term maintenance contract.
