Leiden | As of 1 June 2012, Alexander Reinhardt (44) has been appointed as Head of Public Affairs Germany. In this role, he is responsible for EADS’ relations with public-sector and political organisations and institutions in Germany, particularly the German government and the German parliament. Based in Berlin, he will be reporting directly to EADS CEO Tom Enders and succeeds Ditmar Staffelt, who will cease to work for EADS after reaching the age of 63. Staffelt will continue to support EADS as an advisor in future.
As of 1 June 2012, Philippe Bottrie (52) is the new Head of Political Affairs France. In this capacity, he reports directly to Tom Enders and is responsible for the Group’s relations with the French government. Philippe Bottrie succeeds François Desprairies (63), who moved to Airbus as Head of Public Affairs. Desprairies took up his new position on 1 June 2012, and reports directly to Airbus CEO Fabrice Brégier.
François Desprairies was Head of Political Affairs of EADS in France since 2008. Prior to this, from 2006, he was Head of Corporate Business Development at EADS. From 2003 to 2006, Desprairies exercised the function of Vice President at EADS International for Europe and North America. Before the creation of the Group, he was commercial director and head of marketing at Matra Défense from 1988 onwards, before being appointed head of business development at MBDA in 1997. Desprairies graduated from the HEC business school in 1973 and holds a diploma from IHEDN, the Institute of National Defence Studies.
Philippe Bottrie started his career as a paratrooper officer in 1981 before joining the French Army Air Aviation as a helicopter pilot and squadron leader. From 1997 to 2002, he was aide-de-camp to French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin. In 2002, Bottrie was appointed Deputy Head of Cabinet to French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin. In 2004, he became deputy chief of mission at the French Embassy in Madagascar. Bottrie joined the EADS Group in 2006. After first being responsible for EADS Division Eurocopter’s relations with public-sector and political organisations and institutions in France, he was appointed Director of International Strategic Business at EADS in 2011.
Alexander Reinhardt has been Head of Corporate Media Relations since 2009, bearing responsibility for the global media activities of the EADS Group. He will continue to exercise this function until 31 July. Prior to this, in 2008, Reinhardt was Head of Internal & Online Communications at EADS, before which he was in charge of communications at what was then the EADS Defence & Security Division. From 1998 to 2003, Reinhardt headed the Public Relations department at Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. A trained mountain infantry officer with combat experience, Reinhardt holds a diploma in Political Sciences and is a major in the Reserves.
