Neuilly sur Seine - Thales has been awarded a contract to supply more than 100 of its GNSS 1000-S GPS receivers to upgrade France's fleet of Mirage 2000D aircraft within the framework of the French Army's Global Navigation Satellite System equipment renovation programme.

Thales GNSS 1000-S draws on SAASM (Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module) technology, which enables access to the military GPS encrypted signals. This technology also uses state-of-the-art signal processing, offering extended satellite-tracking capabilities in terms of precision, integrity, availability and jamming robustness in severe operational conditions.

This contract consolidates Thales's European leadership credentials in the field of military GPS receivers, which already equip the European Multi-Missions Frigates (FREMM), long range cruise missiles (SCALP, MDCN), Tiger helicopters, C-135 transport aircraft, ATL-2 Marine Patrol Aircraft and the tanker aircraft of the UK's FSTA (Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft) programme.
