NEW DELHI: After joint naval and air force war games, India and France will now hold an army exercise, 'Shakti', at Chaubatia, near Ranikhet, in September-October.
"The exercise between the two armies will basically focus on counter-terrorism," said an official.
The two navies and air forces regularly conduct the 'Varuna' and 'Garuda' series of exercises.
The Shakti exercise comes at a time when France and India have finalized the almost Rs 11,000-crore upgrade of the 51 Mirage-2000 multi-role fighters in Indian Air Force's combat fleet.
Besides, French jet Rafale is still in the race, along with Eurofighter Typhoon, to bag the Rs 42,000-crore Indian Air Force project to acquire 126 medium multi-role combat aircraft after the rejection of American F/A-18 'Super Hornet' and F-16 'Super Viper', Swedish Gripen and Russian MiG-35 in the competition.
Two hundred Indian soldiers are also currently at the high-tech Land War -fare Centre in Warminster, near Salisbury in the United Kingdom, to take part in the 'Ajayee War -rior' exercise with the British Army.
