COLOMBES, France, Feb. 25 (UPI)
French and British companies are collaborating on the international go-to-market for a new high-frequency radar system for coastal surveillance. Radio Frequency Systems France, a global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist, and Britain's BAE Systems Mission Systems, said a cooperation agreement has been signed by the companies for BAE's High Frequency Surface Wave Radar. The system is the world's first HFSWR solution to utilize a Monostatic Radar with a digitally based architecture that gives continuous, land-based, over-the-horizon coastal surveillance capabilities that exceed the capabilities of conventional microwave systems and traditional platform-based patrol vessels or aircraft surveillance methods. The HFSWR uses the surface wave propagation effect to provide unique low-level detection and tracking capabilities at ranges beyond the normal horizon limitation, the companies said.
