Taiwan has no intention of beginning talks with China regarding a confidence-building mechanism or military exchange program, Ministry of National Defense spokesman Lo Shao-ho said Thursday.
Lo made the remarks after China's Defense Ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng said earlier in the day that the two sides could start exchanges in areas such as marching bands and other military-based performance ensembles.
Taiwan's principle, which has not changed, is to carry out economic exchanges with China before embarking on any kind of political talks and that the country has no plans in that direction, Lo said.
