Defence and security company Saab has received an order from the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (NDLO) to supply the Norwegian Combat Training Centre with advanced training and simulation systems, plus support. The order amounts to SEK141 million and delivery will be from 2016 to 2020.
Saab’s business unit Training and Simulation has supplied the Norwegian Army with training equipment since 2003. Today’s order is a continuation of the existing service contract but also includes an upgrade of the training facility. The Norwegian Army will be the first customer to receive Saab’s new generation sight simulator unit for vehicles, ensuring a more realistic training experience.
“NDLO is pleased to continue the good cooperation we have had with Saab for several years. This ensures access to advanced training for the Norwegian Army,” says Brigadier Bjarne Nermo, head of NDLO Land Systems Division.
“We are very happy to continue our long and close cooperation with the Norwegian Army. Together we will expand and improve the current training capabilities at the Norwegian Combat Training Centre,” says Dag Wikören, head of marketing and sales for Saab in Norway.
The Norwegian Combat Training Centre consists of a complete battalion-level training system for soldiers, vehicles, anti-tank weapons along with a first-class exercise control system.

Babcock has been awarded a contract by the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (NDLO) to provide an Automated Control and Management System (ACMS) to drive the secure delivery of data and voice communications between Norwegian Joint Headquarters (NJHQ) and its armed forces.The new, single, ACMS will replace the current control systems and will interact with 25 sites across Norway. The system will comprise a number of operator workstations at which messages will be co-ordinated and sent via the high frequency (HF) network, as well as the hardware required to manage, encrypt, broadcast and receive all transmissions securely.
The ACMS will be tailored to meet NDLO requirements, compatible with related systems including full interoperability with NATO equipment (tested in Babcock’s systems integration laboratory prior to installation) while also paving the way for future development needs. The open and scalable system architecture provides flexibility and adaptability, enabling simple and cost-efficient system upgrade or installation of new components. Further, the use of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products where possible will reduce through-life costs.

Kongsberg Gruppen ASA (KONGSBERG) has signed a Phase III contract with the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organization (NDLO) to complete the development of the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) and prepare it for integration on the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). This contract is valued at NOK 1.1 billion, and comes on the heels of a bridge phase contract signed on 29 November 2013, bringing the total scope of JSM development Phase III to some NOK 1.5 billion.
JSM development work has going on since 2008 and will be a continuous activity up until the completion of a complete product in 2017. Future activities in Phase III will include aircraft tests, production of a number of test missiles and integration on the F-35.

Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KONGSBERG) has signed a contract for the delivery of Sea PROTECTOR Remote Weapon Stations (RWS) for the Royal Norwegian Navy (RNoN) combat vessels. The contract is entered between the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organization (NDLO) and KONGSBERG, represented by the Naval Systems & Surveillance Division.
The contract has an overall scope of 133 MNOK.
Sea PROTECTOR is a remotely controlled, fully stabilized sensor platform and weapon mount. It enhances the vessels capability in surveillance- and control missions. It provides self-defense and increased capability to counter asymmetric threats through improved hit accuracy. Own crew remains safe and unexposed to hostile fire on the bridge and in the CIC.
This contract is an important reference for KONGSBERG as a compact weapon control systems supplier for small and medium size vessels, as well as Ship borne Protection Systems.
