Soldiers from the 9th/12th Royal Lancers have been helping to keep open a section of one of the largest roads on the Asian Highway Network. Highway 1 connects Kabul to Kandahar and is one of the most important routes in Afghanistan. The local community use the road to transport goods and livestock and the soldiers from the Lancers have the tough task of keeping the highway open, along with members of the Afghan National Army who man checkpoints along the road. A literary livery created by Happy Design Studio adorned the Dassault Rafale as it roared over Le Bourget yesterday. The French fighter's paint scheme shows the character "le petit Prince", drawn from the work of French author and aviator Antoine de Saint Exupery - who served in the French army base at Saint Dizier, where a Rafale fleet is now stationed. Happy was invited to create the livery to celebrate 30,000h of flying, cumulatively, by the type, yielding this happy outcome

Lockheed Martin responded to the challenge from the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command to rapidly develop and build a new special mission aircraft. See how we took the in-production KC-130J Tanker and transformed it into the world's most advanced special operations platform -- the MC-130J Combat Shadow II.
