The Canadian Army will hold a training event, named Exercise ARCTIC RAM 12 next month. The exercise is being billed by the Army as “the biggest northern exercise ever conducted by 1 Canadian
Mechanized Brigade Group.”
Approximately 1,500 soldiers, predominantly from Edmonton, AB, Winnipeg, MB and Shilo, MB, will be conducting training in the Yellowknife to Gameti corridor, according to the Army.
Exercise ARCTIC RAM 12 will re-familiarize soldiers with Northern operations and provide a greater awareness of the demands of the Arctic and how to effectively operate within the
environment. A number of parachute jumps are scheduled to take place, depending on the weather.
