Chinese military official urges promoting APF modernization drive

Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), watched the capacity-building achievements reporting show of the mobile troops of the Chinese People’s Armed Police Force (APF) stationed in Beijing on May 17, 2011.

After watching the equipment passing-through show and demonstrations of some training subjects, Guo Boxiong said that the APF is an important component part of the armed forces of the state and undertakes the sacred historical mission of safeguarding national security and social stability and ensuring that the people live and work in peace, holding very important position and shouldering great responsibility.

Guo Boxiong stressed that the APF should firmly implement the decisions and instructions made by the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, the CMC and CMC Chairman Hu Jintao, hold high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, take Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of the “Three Represents” as guide, carry out the scientific outlook on development in a deep-going way, vigorously promote the modernization drive of the APF and constantly improve the capability of completing diversified tasks focusing on duty performance and emergency-handling by centering on major tasks of the CPC and the state and in light of effectively fulfilling the duties and missions of the APF, and greet the 90th anniversary of the founding of the CPC with concrete action.

Li Jinai, CMC member and director of the PLA General Political Department, and Chang Wanquan, CMC member and director of the PLA General Armaments Department, also watched the show.

Leaders including Sun Jianguo, Gu Junshan and others of the four general headquarters/departments of the PLA and the CMC General Office, and Wang Jianping and Xu Yaoyuan, commander and political commissar respectively of the APF, also attended the activity.
