Paris | The seventh MAST conference and exhibition, from 27-29 June 2011, will host the global and security defence community at Parc Chanot, Marseille, France Senior-level leaders from over 40 countries will discuss future capabilities and concepts with major maritime security and defence ‘shareholders’. DCNS specialists will present papers on future and state of the art technologies from the Group. DCNS is constantly introducing new products and services in response to customers’ emerging and anticipated needs thanks to its R&D and engineering programmes.

DCNS innovations, products and studies on show at MAST Europe include:

• Advansea (ADVanced All-electric Networked ship for SEA dominance) concept ship is an advanced all-electric surface combatant. To meet the needs navies are going to face in 2025, we need to be certain of two things: where we are headed, and how to get there.. Advansea, presented at Euronaval 2010 gave a first glimpse of what a next-generation combatant might look like.

• SMX-25, a concept ship project was released for the first time during Euronaval. This conventional-propulsion submarine has been designed to get to a theatre of operations as quickly as possible.

• Eco-design, a federative approach. As part of a broad sustainable development plan, the Group has drafted a ‘green’ policy to control and reduce its environmental impact. An environmental management organisation and system in compliance with ISO14001has been set up. On top of this however,, the Group’s eco-design strategy takes environmental considerations into account throughout each vessel’s design lifecycle — from construction and operation, to life support and decommissioning.

• The innovative Gowind family of ocean-capable vessels are designed by DCNS for all littoral and sea operations. They are exceptional tools able to fulfil missions ranging from anti-piracy up to sea control and denial. Gowind OPV L’Adroit, the first member of the Gowind family was officially named on Thursday 17 June at a ceremony attended by senior level authorities.

• Polaris is the latest member of the DCNS Combat Systems. It is a sea-proven compact solution designed to fulfil Navies and Coast Guards’ needs for surveillance, littoral zone protection and Economical Exclusive Zone protection missions. POLARIS offers scalable functionalities that are built for maritime situation awareness, interoperability and surface warfare management. The functional core is a robust, optimized and capable tactical system, which takes benefit of DCNS Combat Systems already in service. Polaris is specifically designed for light and medium size surface ships.

• MATRICS - Innovative system for maritime safety and security - Traffic density, number and diversity of threats (smuggling, pollution, illegal immigration,…) and multiplicity of players make countries’ maritime safety and security missions increasingly difficult. As legacy systems have limited capabilities, new solutions are necessary. MATRICS is an innovative, scalable and affordable solution providing permanent maritime traffic surveillance up to EEZ, with advanced threats assessment capabilities. MATRICS is based on DCNS’ experience in complex naval information system and data fusion algorithms.
