Defects Spotted in Ukrainian Armored Vehicles for Iraq

KIEV, May 21 (RIA Novosti)

Baghdad experts have discovered serious defects in the armored vehicles Ukraine has manufactured for Iraq, Ukraine’s Segondya daily reported on Monday.

The defects relate to the gun control systems of 62 BTR-4E armored personnel carriers, part of a $2.4 billion contract also involving the delivery of Ukrainian-made An-32B aircraft to Iraq.

There has been no comment from the manufacturer.

Ukraine is to supply to Iraq a total of 420 armored vehicles before the end of the year.
