Germany orders aircrew survival garments

LONDON, Aug. 16 (UPI)

The German air force has contracted Britain's Survitec Group to provide aircrew garments that protect against cold water immersion and fire.

The multimillion-dollar contract is for about 2,000 clothing systems, which will be delivered over a three-year period. The new protective clothing will be introduced across all German air force flying platforms.

Survitec's aircrew ensemble system provides an integrated approach and including functional underwear, a thermal protection garment and immersion suit. The suits will be supplied and manufactured by Survitec through DSB and will be supported by German subcontracting partners.

DSB is part of the Survitec Group, has headquarters near Hanover, Germany, and is a leading company in the development, processing and manufacturing of rubberized fabrics with marine, defense and aerospace applications.

BWB is the procurement agency for the German air force.
