Six C295s were delivered to Algeria in 2005 and 2006

London - All six personnel on board an Algerian air force Airbus Military C295 are believed to have been killed when the medium transport crashed in France on 9 November.
The European airframer says the incident happened at about 15:45 local time, in the mountainous area of Lozère, south France, while the aircraft was being flown from Paris to Algeria. A team of the company's personnel were due to visit the crash scene "to help clarify the circumstances of this accident".
Algeria's air force had six C295s before the incident, with Flightglobal's MiliCAS database recording these as having been delivered in 2005 and 2006. Images of the crashed aircraft identify it being the youngest of these, with the registration 7T-WGF.
The accident represents the second loss of a C295, with an aircraft operated by the Polish air force having been lost in January 2008, killing 20 people. Airbus Military in mid-September listed 86 of the type as being in use in 14 countries.
