On 26 February - 1 March 2012, a mobile training team on IED countermeasures of the Strategic Command Transformation is visiting Belarus. The visit is conducted within the framework of Belarusian participation in NATO's Partnership for Peace programme and implementation of the measures for achieving the partnership aims, which had been approved by Belarus during the programme's Planning and Review Process.
The main purpose of the visit is to conduct training on combating IEDs, as well as to assist the Republic of Belarus in implementing such partnership goals as defeating IEDs and improving the capabilities of mine clearance and explosive ordnance disposal.
The training sessions will be held in the 2nd engineer brigade. The service members will study the issues of countering IEDs, including cases when they are applied in armed conflicts.
The participants will study the procedure of clearing mines and blind shells, established in the armed forces of the NATO countries and recommendations to Belarus for improving the capabilities of defeating IEDs, as well as exchange information on the results of the Belarusian special units' activities aimed at eliminating explosive objects on the country's territory.
