“Three, two, one, launch!” In the depth of the Keerqin Grassland, with a thunderous sound, a guided missile shot up to the sky with a long tail flame and hit the target in the air. Liu Bin, commander of an air-defense brigade of the Shenyang Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), said excitedly to the reporters, “This is the first live-ammunition practice of the new-type guided missile, and both missiles hit the targets. New equipment begins to generate combat effectiveness.”
In the middle of last April, this brigade was equipped with a new-type guided missile and took it to field training ground. This brigade selected 83 operators for a three-week-long training on the new equipment, and sent 6 officers to professional institutions and scientific research institutions for advanced training. Meanwhile, it invited professionals from manufacturers to give lessons and organize practical equipment operation training in the brigade.
The brigade also gave such trainings as the acquisition and transmission of air situation information, the combat organization and commanding and the essential factors integration through network simulation, operation reproduction and real air situation support, laying a solid foundation for the live-ammunition practice.
