Two pilots were injured, one of them seriously, when a Serbian army plane crashed in a small town near Belgrade on Wednesday, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
Both pilots managed to eject from the training aircraft -- a locally made Lasta (Swallow) -- before it crashed on a street in Nova Pazova, a town located some 20 kilometres (12 miles) northwest of Belgrade.
One of the pilots was seriously wounded and taken to hospital, the ministry said.
No one on the ground was hurt, it added.
The military opened a probe into the incident, the fifth involving Serbian air force planes since 2006. Three people were killed in the previous crashes.
