The Orbiter 2 and 3 mini-unmanned air systems will be the first products to be manufactured in Aeronautics' new facility in Spain.
Avi Leumi, president of the Israeli company, said the site will open in August and initially focus on European countries that have already purchased Orbiter 2, including Poland, the Netherlands and Ireland.
Leumi said the new plant will enable Aeronautics to perform better in the growing European UAS market.
Meanwhile, Aeronautics and Rafael have further strengthened their strategic alliance with the estimated $120 million purchase of Controp, the Israeli manufacturer of optronic payloads.
Aeronautics has owned 18% of the business since a deal in 2004. It will now acquire another 32% of shares and Rafael the remaining 50%.
The joint acquisition is a further development of the strategic alliance between Aeronautics and Rafael, formed after Rafael abandoned UAS development.
