The Streit Group, an armoured vehicle firm based in Canada, has opened a new manufacturing facility in North Charleston according to local news sources. The 75,000 sq foot facility will allow the company, known as Streit USA Armoring in the United States, to triple its production.
The North Charleston expansion is the latest development in a string of significant investment by the company in new plant and infrastructure. Earlier this year Streit opened the largest armoured vehicle manufacturing space in the world at it’s UAE base in Ras Al Khaima. At a cost of $21.8 million, the 1.4 million sq foot facility is the largest in the world, and that’s only after Phase 1 of the project has been completed. By 2014 the company will complete a further two phases with another $32.7 million investment.
The company also has a presence in Pakistan, Iraq, Jordan, Turkey, India, Russia and Afghanistan among others.
