According to western reports, Syria has converted a Mig-21 aircraft into a UAV that could carry chemical agents
Western intelligence officials have claimed that Syria has successfully converted a Mig-21 aircraft into a platform capable of flying without a pilot, and which can carry chemical agents. This was apparently learned by western states following the defection of a Syrian pilot to Jordan with a Mig-21 aircraft last June.
According to US assessments, Russian engineers aided Syria in converting the aircraft into a UAV capable of carrying chemical substances, and there are apparently several aircraft that have undergone such a conversion.
The UAV is intended to drop the contents it is carrying above a specific target or crash into it.
