BILLERICA, Mass., May 11 (UPI)
The U.S. government has ordered militarized Z Backscatter X-ray threat detection systems from American Science and Engineering Inc.
AS&E said a total of four ZBV Military Trailers were ordered by the government. The value of the contract and its delivery provisions, however, were not disclosed.
The ZBV Mil Trailer, like its commercial cousin, will be used to screen vehicles, containers and cargo loads for explosives and other threats.
"This order demonstrates the ongoing effectiveness of the ZBV Mil Trailer in supporting the U.S. government's high-risk counter-terrorism, force protection, and explosives detection operations," said Anthony Fabiano, AS&E's president and chief executive officer. "Our ZBV Mil Trailer has a record of outstanding performance in harsh field environments and very high customer satisfaction ratings for quality and reliability in meeting rigorous security requirements."
The ZBV Mil Trailer is a one-sided system built onto a standard military trailer.
