The US Department of Defence transferred 40 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) to Georgia. The transmission ceremony was held at the base of “Krtsanisi National Training Centre”.
The first Deputy Defence Minister of Georgia Nodar Kharshiladze and the United States Chargé d'Affaires Kent Logsdon attended the ceremony.
The M1151 (30 vehicles) and M1151A1 (10 vehicles) armored vehicles will be used during the preparation trainings for peacekeeping missions. The vehicles will be operated by the battalion, which is going to deploy to NATO-led ISAF operations in Afghanistan.
After the end of the trainings Hummers will become the state property of Georgia.
