Combat Medical Systems gets $86 million Defense Department contract
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., April 17 (UPI) -- An $86 million contract for tactical medical equipment and devices has been given to Combat Medical Systems by the U.S. Department of Defense. The Defense Logistics Agency, which announced the award, said the contract is for five years and is specifically for its Medical Electronic Catalog that delivers medical equipment to U.S.

US Navy's E-6B Mercury aircraft receives IPBE upgrade - Naval Technology
17 April 2013 The US Navy's Boeing-built E-6B Mercury aircraft has successfully completed an internet protocol bandwidth expansion (IPBE) upgrade, as part of its service life extension programme (SLEP) overhaul. The IPBE upgrade will enable the E-6B Mercury aircraft to enhance its capability to support missions during any crisis, while replacing more than 5,000lb of backup equipment from the aircraft.

USS Hartford submarine to undergo maintenance and modernisation - Naval Technology
17 April 2013 General Dynamics (GD) Electric Boat has been awarded a modification contract by the US Navy to plan and conduct maintenance and modernisation related activities in support of the Los Angeles-class submarine, USS Hartford (SSN-768). Under the $9.5m firm-fixed-priced modification contract, Electric Boat will perform dry-docking selected restricted availabilities (DSRA) in order to maintain full unrestricted operation of the submarine.

US drone destroys Taliban base in Pakistan, five killed
A US drone fired two missiles into a Taliban training camp in Pakistan on Wednesday, destroying the compound and killing at least five militants, local officials said. The attack took place in the Baber Ghar area of the South Waziristan tribal district on the Afghan border, a stronghold of Pakistani Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud where the faction runs several camps.

Rockwell Collins selected for two KC-135 service and support
Rockwell Collins has been awarded two contracts to provide service and support for the KC-135 Pacer CRAG (Compass, Radar and GPS) program. The scope of the avionics repair package consists of nearly 4,000 line replaceable units across the fleet of 417 KC-135 aircraft and will be one of the largest repair contracts in terms of volume for Rockwell Collins in its 80-year history.
