Japan MPs okay amendments to nuclear law

Japanese lawmakers have approved amendments to the country’s Atomic Energy Basic Law to allow the use of nuclear power for national security, South Korea’s KBS broadcaster reported on Thursday.

The amendments have yet to get the go-ahead from the government, KBS said, adding that the law was earlier mapped out to limit the use of atomic energy for civilian use.
