On the eve of Passover, the Israeli Air Force stationed a Patriot missile battery near Haifa University as part of an aerial defense exercise
As IAF officials identify a trend of intensifying aerial armament throughout the Middle East, the decision was made to conduct an aerial defense exercise that included the deployment of a Patriot SAM battery near Haifa University.
Israel has deemed Syia’s purchase of advanced fighter jets and radar systems from Russia, which value billions of dollars, a threat to its air superiority.
The IDF Spokesperson Office responded to the drill by stating that it does not "comment on operational deployment."
The deployed battery is designed specifically to target aircraft rather than intercept rockets.
In October, a large-scale joint drill between Israel and the US will take place that, according to officials in the IAF, will be a "major component in enhancing combat preparedness."
