NATO Days kicked off in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on Oct.6.
A group of experts from NATO Allied Command Transformation (ATC) organized he event pursuant to the order of Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Defense Ministry told Azeri Defence. NATO delegation led by the chief of the military partnership department, Lieutenant General Ali Chetinkaya (Turkey) will visit the Military Academy of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, Higher Military School named after Heydar Aliyev and a training center, get acquainted with their activity, conduct briefings and discussions. The event will continue until October 8.

A meeting was held in Ministry of Defence Industry on Thursday with the leaders of Pakistan Company GIDS, who are on visit in Azerbaijan, Ministry press service said.
The delegation was informed about the Ministry's activities.
During the meeting, which was attended by Pakistan's military attache in Azerbaijan, the sides discussed prospects of cooperation in the field of defense industry between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.

Baku.-. Azerbaijan intends to purchase modern weapons from South Korea, said a source in the South Korean parliament, APA reports quoting Hankook Ilbo publication.
According to the source, the intention to purchase modern military vehicles was expressed during the visit of South Korean parliamentary delegation to Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani side has expressed wish to purchase from South Korea two submarine boats, mine vessel, transport ship, T-50 training planes, K-9 self-propelled artillery vehicle, drones worth $3 billion.
These proposals have been given to the government of South Korea, but the Korean side has not given consent to this agreement yet.
According to Hankook Ilbo, Seoul bewares that the sale of weapons will change the balance of forces in the region. Taking into account that Nagorno Karabakh conflict remains unsolved, South Korea Foreign Ministry has called on the Defense Ministry to be cautious and restrained while passing a decision.

Azerbaijan has ordered ten AW139 helicopters from Britain (Agusta Westland) for $148 million. These are for civilian use and military use. These eight ton choppers carry up to 15 passengers and can get by with just one pilot. Cruise speed is 288 kilometers an hour and endurance averages 3.2 hours. The AW139 competes with the U.S. UH-60 and another European helicopter, the slightly larger NH90.
Azerbaijan is getting several different AW139 variants; four AW139 and two AW189 as navy transports, two AW139s as ambulances, one AW139 for search and rescue and one AW139 for VIP transport. This purchase is the part of a military buildup by the oil rich Turkic nation of Azerbaijan, which has more than doubled its defense budget in the last three years (to nearly $4 billion). Nearly half the budget will be spent to modernize the armed forces. Outside of the defense budget many dual-use items, like these ten helicopters, are also being purchased.

Azerbaijan is interested in some Turkey-produced armored vehicles and Altay main battle tank. According to information obtained by Azerbaijan Press Agency at IDEF-2103, the issue on including Turkey-produced armored vehicles produced in the armament of Azerbaijani Army.
Altay main battle tank was welcomed by the Azerbaijani delegation. The two prototypes of the tank have already been designed. One of the prototypes overcame more than 3,000 km distance during the tests. The other prototype designed to carry out shooting tests has been trained in the territory of Sarigamis in winter.
At IDEF, the shooting test prototype of the tank was exhibited on Otokar company stand. The delegations of Azerbaijani Armed Forces were informed about the tank features. It was said that there is not problem to include the tank in the arsenal of Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the future.
The Azerbaijani delegation was also interested in 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle Arma produced by Otokar company and infantry fighting vehicle Tulpar. According to the company representatives, Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev gave his recommendations on the vehicles.
The Azerbaijani delegation expressed its interest in 6x6 wheeled armoured personnel carrier Ejder ("Dragon") produced by Nurol company, figtning vehicle Kaplan produced by FNSS company, fortified vehicles and anti-mine vehicle Kangal exhibitied by Katmerciler company for the first time.
It was also noted that artillery rocket system ordered within the agreement signed with ROKESTAN company will be started to deliver to Azerbaijan in the near future.

Baku | Azerbaijan bough anti-tank missiles and mine throwers from Israel. APA reports that Azerbaijan reached agreements with the Israeli “Rafael” company last year on the purchase of “Spike SR” and “Spike LR” anti-tank missiles, as well as Cardom 120mm mine throwers with Elbit Systems.
No additional details were provided on Azerbaijan’s order and the terms of delivery.
Spike SR is the short range version of the anti-tank weapon system, with a minimum range of 200 m (660 ft) and a maximum range of 800 m. It is intended for infantry use. The reusable command and launch unit (CLU), battery, tripod and the thermal sight are also used by other versions of the Spike missile family (with the exception of Spike NLOS), each weighing 5 kg, 1 kg, 2.8 kg, and 4 kg, respectively.
Spike LR is a long range version. The weight of the missile is 14 kg, offering a maximum range of 4,000 m and used by dismounted soldiers and light combat vehicles. It adds fibre-optic communications to and from the launching soldier during flight.
The 120 mm Cardom mine throwers, produced by Soltam Systems, can discharge 15 projectiles per minute. Their maximum range is 7,240 metres.
